Madiana Margao - Redsprinkle
My name is Madiana Margao, and I am the co-founder of Red Sprinkle Fashion Bootcamp, and the DC Youth Fashion Alliance, Inc, which are both high-caliber enrichment programs based in Washington, D.C.
We specialize in delivering a specified array of creative courses, workshops, and programs, which collectively focus on providing career options within the fashion and entertainment industries.
Red Sprinkle Fashion Bootcamp, was established in late 2011, after my sister, Rebecca, and I recognized that there were limited resources available for students looking to explore career options in the fashion and entertainment industries. Furthermore, programs that were in existence did not fully engage in experiential learning. We then decided to establish an enrichment program that gave students hands-on training in the fashion, beauty, and entertainment industries, while being taught by top professionals. In past and current programming, our students learn about fashion styling and design, makeup, nail and hair artistry, blogging, photography, modeling jewelry design, and more.
Following a successful collaboration with the Mary's Center (June 2012), the positive media attention surrounding our program led to collaborations with DC Public Schools, DC Public Charter Schools, Life Success Center (DC), Do the Write Thing (DC), Department of Employment Services (DOES--DC), Project Create (DC), DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities (DC), DC Promise Neighborhood Initiative (DC), After-School All-Stars (DC), Far Southeast Family Strengthening Collaborative (FSFSC--DC), So Others Might Eat (DC), Excel Beyond the Bell (MD), the Montgomery County Recreation Department (MD), Montgomery County Public Schools (MD), PG County Public Schools (MD), YMCA (MD), and a host of others. In addition, we also consult as Program Coordinators for the teen division of Miss DC (USA), and have also hosted fashion workshops for Oprah's "The Life You Want" national tour.
I believe there is a vested need today, to facilitate programming for young ladies, which not only encourages personal/professional development, but also promotes self-confidence among all participants. I will appreciate the opportunity to discuss our program as it's mission, and the potential of future participation. Feel free to peruse the following media links, which features participants from a past Summer Youth Employment Program, as well as past and current youth students, while also showcasing a detailed portrayal of what our youth learn throughout their tenure of programming.
